    Geez. This takes me back to my college days at Portland State U. I saw Billy Rancher frequently at shows around town. The last show I saw him at was... I think, Lung Fung's in east Portland. He died way too soon. The band was really beginning to take off! Cancer sucks.

      Monte Struck, the manager of the Kingsman at that time bought three kegs of Heineken and gave a girls sorority invitations to bring the guys that they wanted to have their.... That was why that was such an outrageously fun party to go to .. I recorded 15 takes from all different angles to edit this party together... In 1983, it was all linear editing.. No computers... My two 3/4" inch decks didn't even have a controller so I crash edited this all together the hard way...

    • @jesterpro

      Did you see that Richard story is a four part series of his whole life..? All four episodes are on my channel ... Just hit the content button, and a magnifying glass will show up in the search window ... Type in "Burdell" and you should find all four episodes... When Richard could no longer communicate with his eyes, he had a deal with the doctor that they would pull his plug on his life support system when he wanted them to ... When he decided to do that, we had a party for him at the hospital for a couple hours before they pulled the plug on his breathing machine ... There was about 50 people that filled his room and all the way down the hall ... I recorded that party ... Richard had people calling in from all over the world to say goodbye to him ... There was so much love and that part of the hospital that it was almost glowing with angels... They all sang the song "will that circle be unbroken" For about a half an hour, The doctor put something in his IV to relax him... The last words he signed with Linda his caretaker for the 13 years he suffered with ALS, were "You all need to learn how to water ski" Water skiing was one of his most fun things to do ... There were Portland superstars all their singing dozens of verses of that song while he closed his eyes and went to sleep ... Then the doctor unplugged his breathing machine and he went to sleep listening to all of his best friends seeing him that song.. I never edited this last segment of his life ... Richard was one of my best friends since I was 17 ... Linda Was the most wonderful caretaker that made his life worth living after he lost control of his body... She was an angel of love for him ... I'm all choked up now remembering what a wonderful human being he was, and I miss him in a huge way ...

    Hey, I was intricately involved in the making of this band. I encouraged them often because the talent was there. I wrote and co-wrote some of their songs. I'm the one that told them, Don't just be a cover band, Don't be afraid to put original songs out there, there's more where that came from. They went far in 5 short years, but what happens all too often, they had to get "real" jobs, and start families. I got two nephews, a brother, and a long time good friend in this band. Not defunct, not forgotten, and much loved, The Great and Mighty SkyWalkers Themselves!!! MOHAWK YARD M₩ ¥D

    • @jesterpro
      @jesterpro 2 місяці тому

      You are correct sir.. This was a party they threw just to make a video of Louie Louie .. I recorded 16 take's from the scaffolding they set up around the stage and from outside... They had three kegs of Heineken and they invited three sororities to come party.. The guys had to have an invitation from a lady to be there ... It was one heck of a party !!! Dick Peterson and I edited it together .. He was the drummer after Lynn Easton came out front to be the lead singer, when Jack Ely went into the army in 1962 ... After a couple of national tours after the song got banned by the governor of Indiana, Lynn Easton quit the band... They had a couple other front men for a few years, and then Dick Peterson came out from behind the drums and became the front man ... He also handled the business for the band ... I recorded this in 1983, and MTV had just started up... This was one of the most requested videos that year.. It's the national party song for college kids ..

      @@jesterpro Wow, thanks for that detailed reply, which, if I'm parsing it correctly, meant they played that song 16 times, so you could capture 16 different angles with your one camera! It's certainly a very fun song, but I have to wonder if people didn't tire of it after a dozen plays! On Wikipedia, it says the original Kingmen's song was recorded after the band had had a 90 minute marathon session of playing the song live to some teen club the night before... I suppose this music video taping was a reprise of that experience! I also read that Jack Ely is not the vocalist on this 1983 performance.

    • @jesterpro
      @jesterpro 2 місяці тому

      @@borisstarosta7823 Again you are correct... There was a huge lawsuit between Jack and Dick about the use of the name "The Kingsmen" and the use of the original recording that was bootlegged 50,000,000 times in the first 10 years... Jack could not use the name "The Kingsmen" and Dick could not lipsync to the original recording.. Dick solved the problem by future recording's having such low quality that you could not tell it was not the original... Jack tried using several similar names such as "The Courtsmen" without any success... This version I produced in 1983 was a re-mix with Freddy as the vocalist..
